Interview : Akshay Kumar: It’s an unfortunate fact that such an inspirational story is kept away from our education system!
The Khiladi of Bollywood is geared up with one more exciting, interesting and inspiring story. His previous includes inspiring stories like Gold, which was based on real incidents. It was a huge hit! Akshay is back with a bang, playing the role of a Sikh warrior. Kesari is all about the war of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikhs defended fought 10,000 invaders.
In an interaction with Filmcity World, Akshay expresses why everyone should watch this film.
“Youth should come and see the film to understand what sacrifice and bravery is all about,” says Akshay.
Ahead of the release of his film Kesari, actor Akshay Kumar reveals why he has an emotional attachment with the film. “Kesari was a very emotional journey for me because my father was also a soldier. He was in the army. And, Kesari too is a story about soldiers. If you Google it, you will realise that the Battle of Saragarhi is the second topmost battle in the world. We celebrate a film like 300, which is fictional, but this is a real story of 21 soldiers who held off 10,000 invaders knowing they would eventually die in the battle. The British celebrate it as Saragarhi Day but we don’t which is a very unfortunate fact. Our soldiers gave their sacrifice to protect our country from the invaders and we hardly know anything about this bravery. Unfortunately even our education system has isolated such an inspirational story.” says Akshay.
Akshay then talks about his look in the film. “I am wearing a pagdi that weighs approximately one kilogram and wielding a 4-5 KG sword in the film. But, the Sikh warriors in those days wielded swords that used to weigh even 20 kgs and fought with that. I guess it must be because they had asli (pure) ghee,” giggles Akshay.
When asked him the most emotional moment while shooting kesari, Akshay says, “There is a song in the film about the last 30 seconds he had before dying. That is the time when his life is revived in front of him in those 30 seconds. That is truly a very emotional part of the film and the youth should come and see the film to understand what sacrifice and bravery is all about.” The song about which Akshay said is launched. The song titled, “Teri Mitti” sung by B Praak and the lyrics are written by Manoj Muntashir.
This was all about Kesari which is set to hit the screens on the occasion of festival of colors i.e Holi. Apart from this, the actor also revealed his future project. Akshay Kumar is all set to make his digital debut. As webseries are trending these days, our Khiladi Kumar will also step in the digital world with the action thriller temporarily named as ‘The End.’ His fans would surely be anticipated to watch their favorite actor doing all the stunts after a really long gap.
Lets wait and watch how well Kesari performs on Box office.
